Sash Fasteners
We collected these for over 40 years, fascinated by the variety and inventiveness of the manufacturers.

We make two observations about the renovation scene, particularly in Melbourne. Firstly, the inappropriate use of replacement "Fitch" fasteners in Victorian houses. These were not used until c.1910-1950. Secondly, the widespread fitting of chrome-plated window and door furniture. We're not sure if this is due to the mistaken belief that this is appropriate or that it makes the house look modern. You can see from our range what is authentic. We acknowledge that it is extremely difficult to acquire sets of originals.

A set of original brass casement fasteners. A reeded pattern with curved offset to facilitate leverage when operating (which we have never seen before). C.1905. One fastener is damaged at one end, but is still serviceable. Original plates, with shouldered ends to match. Superb quality.
